THE SYNTHS SERIES

ANLG is part one of an ongoing series of Ableton Live Presets based around the idea of less quantity and more quality. If you’re like me you’ve downloaded more than a couple of preset packs in your time, and if you’re like me then you’ve probably been quite dissatisfied with what you’ve found. It seems that a lot of packs out there are full of presets that just ‘make up the numbers’ but don’t really sound that good or provide any kind of useful functionality 🤔 You’ll end up downloading that pack with '432 Bass Presets’ but only ever use 2 of them 😶 That’s really no good 😛

I’ve had this experience so many times that I thought, ‘Hmm, surely I can do better than this!’ ☝🏻 So I set about building a set of presets with the intention of making every preset and every control count. Therefore every synth in ANLG is carefully thought out and each control is specifically mapped to give you sounds that are great from the word go but are also usefully transformable to make them your own or play them like a real synth.

In ANLG you’ll find:

  • 3 ARP SYNTHS
  • 4 FX SYNTHS
  • 9 MONO SYNTHS
  • 15 POLY SYNTHS

I have consciously chosen not to label the sounds with specific terms like bass, pad or lead and instead used more generic terms like mono and poly because you’ll find that most of the synths are useful for multiple sounds. The synths sound great whether you play them low or hi in pitch and can be transformed to work in various settings. So, even though there are 31 core presets in total, the number of sounds you can create from these is limitless.

I’d recommend loading up each sound and tweaking some of the Macro controls to hear the range of sounds that are possible and even saving your own presets that are variations of the included sounds.
